Gigi & Roy Ben Artzi are a New York-based director duo who started their careers as fashion photographers before exploring the narrative power of moving images, where they felt they could ask looming questions deep in their minds.
Their film work has been praised for its strong composition, cinematography, and the depth of characters, often choosing to shoot in 16mm film. Their short E.W.A.—that follows a teenage girl with a condition that makes her unable to fit into society—was shortlisted for the Grand Jury Prize at 2016’s American Film Institute Film Festival and was premiered in Nowness. Their work has been featured in media houses such as i-D, Ignant, Oyster, and Marfa Film Festival.
